Vidhu Vinod Chopra : I always Thought I was The Best in The world

vidhu-vinod-chopra-i-alwaysOne of the most successful producer – director of our times, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is a name to reckon with in the Indian film industry. He tasted success with his directorial debut MURDER AT MONKEY HILL in 1976 which won him the National Award. Vidhu is a firm believer in encouraging talent and the man behind various blockbusters like 3 IDIOTS and MUNNABHAI series. However, beneath this maze of fame and success lie the struggles of early life which not many of us are aware of. He comes from a poor family and he only learned ABCD when he was in class 8 at the age of 16. In a splendid conversation with Boman Irani on Teacher’s Achiever’s Club the filmmaker reveals, “See because I grew up in Kashmir and I went to a DAV school where they taught me ABC when I was like 16 years old, in the 8th class, I always thought I was the best in the world because I didn’t know the world. It’s only when I went to the film institute that I realised that old saying ‘You have to know a lot before you know how little you know’.” This is perhaps why success has not affected him. He says he will continue to make films that he believes in.
