Warner Brothers has announced that Baz Luhrmann’s 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby will not be released until next summer. The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Amitabh Bachchan, had been slated for release on Christmas in the United States and the day after in the United Kingdom. However, Warner Bros said it was pushing the film back to ensure it ‘reaches the largest audience possible,’ the BBC reported. The release date puts the film, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel of the same title, out of contention for next year’s Oscars.
