Restoration of the Constitution and Democracy NEEDED : A FORCEFUL VOICE

The danger to the Government is because of its own methods of working. The Government is working, but the party is not working and the reality is that the Congress party does not even have the thinking capacity; they are constrained to conform with the agenda of the Government. The Government feels that it should do all those works very quickly for which it had already made promises to the American financial institutions or American policy makers. This is why the Government has started doing all those things which are not the ‘atman’ or soul of the Indian Constitution, they are even contrary to the words written in the Constitution. The Government has literally killed the word ‘socialist’ written in the Constitution without even making any changes or without making any amendments in the Constitution and without informing the country have established a market controlled and directed state instead of a welfare state. Leaders like Lal
Krishna Advani, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Ram Vilas Paswan, Prakash Karat, A. B. Bardhan, Chandrababu Naidu, Karunanidhi, Jayalalitha, Mayawati, and Deve Gowda remained inactive and silent during this entire exercise.
Should it be considered that people like Bhimrao Ambedkar, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Shri Rajagopalachari, Sardar Patel and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, who were central to the creation of the Indian Constitution, did not have the foresight and neither did they have the intellect of understanding the problems of Indian society ? Should we also consider that the Ministers in today’s Government and the Opposition leaders are the only people who understand the contra-indications of Indian society? The leaders of the past were less knowledgeable or maybe they did not have the sense of recognising the future. If this had happened, then in India today, disparities would not have increased, prices would not have escalated, corruption would not have been pandemic and neither would a danger have arisen of opportunities ending. The economy of the country would have been strengthened and the country would have seen overall development.

If you play games with democracy then history will never forgive you and the coming generations would remember you in the same way as traitors are remembered. That is why it is necessary for a forceful voice to be raised for the Constitution and democracy. Who will raise this voice?

The Government has literally killed the word ‘socialist’ written in the Constitution without even making any changes or without making any amendments in the Constitution and without informing the country have established a market controlled and directed state instead of a welfare state.

The people of the country have a weak memory, that’s what state leaders believe. This is why in 1992 when there was an announcement of a new economic policy by the then Finance Minister Manmohan Singh he had said that the fundamental framework of the country is broken and to make a quick re-construction there is a need for a new economic policy. There would be a rejuvenation of the country within the next twenty years, but what happened was completely the opposite. Money came into the country, but that was invested in the consumer sector instead of the priority sector. There was an abundance of televisions, cars, clothes, mobiles and consumer items in the country, but roads, hospitals, education and industry stood at the same place. There is no assurance of electricity. Leave apart water for irrigation, drinking water is also being depleted. Now in the name of economic reforms those bureaucrats who are scripting the conspiracy of selling the country are making state leaders say that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is important so that the construction of roads in the country and cold storage can be done in the country and the farmers can gain direct profits. The meaning of direct profits for the farmer is to gobble up his land by giving money. In the last 20 years the lands of the farmers have been transformed into a big treasure and the work of gobbling up this treasure is going to be done by today’s markets. The present Government is openly giving its support to this.
The regret is that having hope on the leaders of the political parties who are the major elements of Indian politics is useless, that they will raise a demand for the restoration of the Constitution. If they had to raise their voice, then they would have done it by now. Should it be considered that the entire political system has stood up not only against the Indian Constitution but has also stood up against the interests of the Indian public, the results are in fact showing this indication. Then what should the ‘janta’ (common people) do, raise its voice or raise weapons? On raising their voice the Government does not listen to their voices, the ‘andolans’ ( movements) done in a peaceful manner do not bother the Government, the Government does not take notice of them and when those movements become violent then the Government immediately starts giving assurances. This is what is happening from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Not only this, the people of the organisations who take up the problems of the ‘janta’ and raise their voices are considered traitors. Instead of spying on the terrorists and anti national forces, spying is done on those who want to tell the Government about the problems of the public. Their telephones are tapped twenty four hours. The Government is giving this message that till the time there will be no violence, till then the voices won’t reach their ears.
The Governments should not do this, because the work which the Central Government is doing in Delhi, that work is being done by the State Governments in the states. And the coincidence is that some or the other party somewhere or the other is a partner in the Government. We want to tell you with humility that doing this is against democracy and please don’t play games with democracy. If you play games with democracy then history will never forgive you and the coming generations would remember you in the same way as traitors are remembered. That is why it is necessary for a forceful voice to be raised for the Constitution and democracy. Who will raise this voice? The first responsibility of raising this voice is of the common people, and for raising the voices of the common people the first task is to organise them. If the political parties do not do this work then the responsibility of doing this work should be taken up by people like Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and General V. K. Singh. You create hopes among the public and then stand aside, this should not happen. If the public places its faith on you then you should also fulfill your time honoured responsibility. So it is important that Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and General V. K. Singh should start travelling together and awaken and motivate the common people for restoration of the Constitution and the democratic tradition. They should tell the public that the time has come for sending such candidates to the Lok Sabha who can fulfill these demands. How to elect a candidate and what should be its standards, this decision also should now be taken by the public.
Is the youth of India there only to say ‘zindabad’( Long Live ) for the political leaders or will their participation in the political process also be there? At the age of 18 it is expected of a youth that he should stand on the borders of the country with a gun and give his life for the country, but he is not taken as someone who has the ability to run a Government. The need is that the youth should also understand their responsibility towards the country and take an oath for the societal restoration of the Constitution.
