Issues Must Be Resolved, An Answer Found To Challenges : For A Viable Future, Janata Parivar Must Unite Soon

santosh-bhartiyaThe whole nation is ‘Opposition-less’. The Congress has the most number of MPs in the Lok Sabha, but Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi are not being able to decide what their role is. Sometimes it feels as if Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have not mentally accepted till now that they have lost the elections. And perhaps it is an example of this mindset that a member of the think tank of Rahul Gandhi called a meeting of 100 active members of the Youth Congress and explained to them for three hours that in 2014 the Congress has not lost the elections, rather the Congress has won the elections. Perhaps this is the most accurate example of mental illusion. There was hope that upon completion of 6 months of Narendra Modi’s tenure, a proactive message will be given to the country from the side of the Opposition on his steps, on his thoughts and about the way indicated or mapped out by the Government, but no such thing happened.
The Marxist Party, or if said in other words, then the Left Parties, have not yet been able to rise from the jolt of their limited support base. And, on the other side, be it Jayalalitha, be it Naveen Patnaik, or be it Mamata Banerjee, they are just not in a position to be able to give a reply to Narendra Modi. Mamata Banerjee has called the arrest of a MP of her party an act of revenge. Perhaps this can be believed to be Mamata Banerjee’s inability to estimate or assess her role as a leader of the Opposition. It can be believed to be a desperation to save many people of her party who are being seen caught in the Saradha Chit Fund Scam, but it cannot be believed to be the role of an Opposition leader. The role of leader of the Opposition is very big; he/she at every step has to keep an eye on the steps of the Government and after doing a theoretical and scientific analysis of that monitored view has to explain it to the public. And when elections happen years later, at that time the public weighs the leaders of the Opposition and decides whether they should come to power or not. In this ‘Opposition-less’ politics of the country, if any big stir has taken place, then it has been in regard to the possibility of the Janata Parivar getting united. Upon the initiative of Nitish Kumar and Mulayam Singh Yadav all the scattered leaders of the

During his recent Sampark Yatra (contact tour), Nitish Kumar accepted his shortcomings due to which he grew apart from the workers. Because of acceptance of those shortcomings workers are again getting attracted to Nitish Kumar. The kind of response Nitish Kumar got from the side of workers during the entire Sampark Yatra gave birth to a new Nitish Kumar. At this time Nitish Kumar is self-confident, wants to take risks and also understands the importance of his role in re-uniting the Janata Parivar in the country.

Janata Parivar have twice sat together and had planned a third meeting. In bringing these leaders together Mulayam Singh Yadav and Nitish Kumar have played a big role. Mulayam Singh Yadav is preparing to play a big role in providing a socialist alternative in the country’s politics and he is developing Nitish Kumar as a meaningful, significant weapon against Narendra Modi. But those questions and issues because of which the Janata Parivar had scattered remain where they were. Yet this time it has started to feel as if the leaders of the Janata Parivar have determinedly engaged themselves in finding solutions to those questions and issues.
Nitish Kumar wants that all the scattered leaders of the Janata Parivar, in which first name is that of Deve Gowda Ji, the second name is of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the third name is of Lalu Yadav, the fourth name is of Om Prakash Chautala and the fifth is his own party, in which people like himself, Sharad Yadav and KC Tyagi are included, everyone together should form a party. Nitish Kumar believes that if one party is not formed, then these people cannot face or deal with or combat the politics of Narendra Modi. Nitish Kumar also believes that this Parivar characterises that story in which a farmer had explained to his son that 7 sticks kept apart can be broken easily, but if they are tied together, are bound together, then it becomes impossible to break them. And that is why he has been emphasising that everyone together forms one party and in this mission he got the open support of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Deve Gowda Ji and Om Prakash Chautala.
The possibility that Mulayam Singh Yadav be accepted as the chief of the new party to be formed had been around for some time. It was felt that the responsibility of the name of the new party, its flag and merger process be left on him after talking to all other people. Mulayam Singh Yadav sees the role of and for everybody in that party, because he believes that the country is very big, but he sees the role of Nitish Kumar being more. Seeing the role of Nitish Kumar being more does not mean that the status of Lalu Yadav or Sharad Yadav or Om Prakash Chautala will be less, instead it means that he wants to make a map of an organisation that works holistically. The possibility had been around too that when the formation of one party takes place, it could be given any name, with Nitish Kumar also telling some of his friends that we can all even accept the name of the Samajwadi Party, because victory is not achieved by a name, victory is achieved by work. Then a party which can play a meaningful role of the Opposition in the country’s politics will be born and that party can give a befitting reply to the Government. Deve Gowda believes that if the Janata Parivar together forms one party, then talks can be held with Naveen Patnaik, Mamata Banerjee and Jayalalitha. And in Parliament a solid group of about 100 MPs can opine unitedly on the problems of the country.
In this whole situation the role of Mulayam Singh Yadav and self-confidence of Nitish Kumar has been playing a meaningful role for some time. Nitish Kumar has presented an amazing example of ethics and morality in the last 30 years in the country. He took moral responsibility for defeat and resigned from the post of Chief Minister. This has separated Nitish Kumar from the rest of the leaders. Nitish Kumar after submitting his resignation talked to more than 1000 workers and tried to learn the reasons for his defeat. And as Nitish Kumar tells his friends, it was to know those reasons that he started the Sampark Yatra (contact tour) in Bihar. During his recent Sampark Yatra, Nitish Kumar accepted his shortcomings due to which he grew apart from the workers. In the ‘new’ organisation Nitish Kumar can also play the gamble of not keeping his name in the forefront, but all the people of the Opposition know that without the leading name of Nitish Kumar, in today’s date, a newly formed party will not be able attain that credibility which it should get.
That is why it should be believed that as a result of attempts made by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Nitish Kumar the advent of a new Opposition party will be there in the country, but the biggest danger in this is that the President’s of 3 big parties come from one community. The leaders of these parties will also have to make the country feel that this new party represents all classes and all groups, only then will it get the support of all classes of people. At the time of going to press, no name of any Dalit leader was there in the available leadership list. All these challenges Mulayam Singh Yadav, Nitish Kumar and the rest of the people of the Janata Parivar will understand and will find some or the other solution which in the future doesn’t compel them to play the role of sycophants by going with either the Bharatiya Janata Party or the Congress. This is the challenge and if an answer to is not found in the next one month, then after that it will make no difference even if an answer is found.
