Here’s Team India’s complete cricket schedule for the 2014-15 season…
2014 will be a challenging year for the new-look Team India. With most of India’s cricket scheduled on foreign soil and testing conditions, it will be a real test of character for the youngsters. The 12 months of action-packed cricket ahead will make or break some careers and shape the new Team India.
India’s tour of New Zealand
India kick off their cricketing crusade in 2014 with a five-match ODI series against New Zealand followed by two Test matches inAuckland and Wellington.
The last time India took part in the Asia Cup Sachin Tendulkar reached the 100 international tons mark even as the 2010 champions failed to make it to the finals of the tournament. In 2014, India would be aiming to reclaim the title of Asian champions.
ICC World T20 Cup
Bangladesh will also host the 2014 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup, where India kick off their campaign against arch rivalsPakistan. West Indies and Australia are the other two teams in India’s group while the fifth side will be decided via qualifiers.
The 2-month cricketing extravaganza, or IPL in layman’s language, slated for April-May might have to be shifted out of India due to the 2014 General elections in the country. And as mundane as it may sound, India also have a 3-match ODI tour to Bangladesh in June.
India’s tour of England
Serious cricket will be back as India head to England for the Test series, their first-ever five match series since 1959. The grilling Tests will be followed by 5 ODIs and a lone T20 to conclude India’s two and half month English summer.
Champions League T20
September will see top IPL teams back in action as Champions League T20 returns with the best domestic teams from other cricket playing nations.
West Indies’ tour of India
The 3-Tests, 5 ODIs and 1 T20 series against West Indies is scheduled for October-November. However, it has been proposed to inviteNew Zealand instead for India’s only international home series in 2014.
India’s tour of Australia
The year will conclude with, you guessed it right, Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as Team India tours Down Under for the 4-Tests series. The triangular ODI series, popularly known as CB series will be the concluding event of India’s 2014-15 season.
