Congratulations, Advaniji

Shri Lal Krishna Advani posted a comment on his blog as a result of which there was a virtual earthquake in the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A Minister of the Congress party, who may become an important Cabinet Minister in the future, said that the BJP has conceded defeat. The honourable Minister forgot while saying this that in his wisdom he has provided legitimacy to the analysis of Lal Krishna Advani. He did not understand that in the same comment Advaniji is also saying that the Congress will get less than 100 seats. Such proofs of the great wisdom of the great Congress do not need to be searched for these days — they can be found scattered anywhere.
The BJP got worried because Advaniji’s comment is saying clearly that the Prime Minister will not be from the BJP, meaning it will not be Narendra Modi. The BJP leaders gave a balanced reaction and called this as the democratic right of Advaniji, but his blog would have hurt Modi the most. Narendra Modi knows that to retreat once he has come this far would be self-destructive. Narendra Modi had decided to present himself as the future Prime Minister of the country in the Gujarat Assembly Elections due in December this year. He was about to say to the people of Gujarat that they must make Gujarat victorious for now; then the country will get its Prime Minister from Gujarat. He also wanted to say that the country could not get its Prime Minister in the form of Sardar Patel, but as the pride of Gujarat he would go on to become the Prime Minister.
As of now Advani’s blog has blunted this future strategy of Narendra Modi. Keshubhai Patel is standing in the form of the second worrisome problem in front of Narendra Modi. The Patel community carries a lot of weight in Gujarat and Keshubhai Patel is the tallest and biggest veteran  leader of this community. He has floated his separate party. Kashiram Rana has joined him. Kashiram Rana too is a big leader of the ‘backwards’. But a more important name than these two, which the people do not know, is Lalji Patel. Lalji Patel is a senior functionary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and he is fighting with the RSS for the past many years just because he does not like the manner of working of Narendra Modi. Lalji Patel believes that Narendra Modi has not only sidelined all the old functionaries of the BJP but he has also removed all the senior workers of the RSS from the scene. Lalji Patel is the brain behind the new party of Keshubhai Patel and Kashiram Rana.

What comes out of Advaniji’s comment is that if the BJP has to depose the Congress from power, then it will have to forge a big joint front and will have to give its leadership to a non-BJP leader. There can be many such names of non-BJP leaders, out of which the first name is Nitish Kumar, second Mulayam Singh, third Sharad Yadav and fourth, Mamata Bannerjee but Mamata Bannerjee and Mulayam Singh are with the Congress. It is doubtful if the Congress will make this kind of a strategy because its whole working style is a working style that is beyond the purview of democracy.

If the Prime Minister will not be from the BJP, and the Congress will not march beyond 99 seats, then what will be the political situation? Lal Krishna Advani is a senior leader of the country and it must be conceded that at this advanced age he will present his own honest person. What comes out of his comment is that if the BJP has to depose the Congress from power, then it will have to forge a big joint front and will have to give its leadership to a non-BJP leader. The Congress did not even institute a Coordination Committee in the past seven and a half years to talk to its alliance partners. The Congress formed this Coordination Committee only when Sharad Pawar punched it in the nose. A small party shook the largest party in the country. It seems that Mulayam Singh, Mamata Bannerjee, Sharad Pawar and Karunanidhi are with the Congress only technically and not mentally.
Over the question of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), a new war can erupt between the Congress and its allies. This subject will decide to what extent parties other than the Congress are bothered about the employment of 70 per cent people of the country. This is important because Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev have started the process of mass movements amongst the people in the country. These movements are infusing people with the sentiment that mostly political parties are against their interests. A spurt in this sentiment can be dangerous. Though all political parties including the BJP and the Congress believe that Anna Hazare’s or Baba Ramdev’s movements will have no effect, but the reality is opposite. The neutral electorate, what is called the silent majority, has started thinking about the questions raised by Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev. New voters  who have joined the electorate recently, have decided to join the democratic process with all vigour,  which is why the voting percentage has gone up to about 70 per cent. The poor have become more aware of their food and employment, and therefore this moment is a moment for serious thinking not just by the Congress but by the BJP and all other political parties. Two years ago it was believed that no voice could rise against status quo, corruption, crime and the inactivity of the government and the Opposition in the country. When there was darkness all around and hopelessness was widespread, then Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev raised their voices. The political parties opposed these voices which activated the masses. This new awareness and thinking amongst people created new possibilities. Whenever new possibilities are born, then the danger of their getting scattered is equally high. It is difficult to convince the country that we will bring change. The masses believe that untrustworthy leaders whom it knows are better as their errors are known. How can the people put their trust in such new leaders who are not even able to tell the people as to what steps they will implement if they come to power? This is the important point of this situation.  Many a time people have been duped after trusting saintly characters so they will think many times before believing Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev.  The fundamental condition for gaining the trust of the people is one only, namely,  that Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev should tell the people which 20 things need to be implemented immediately and these 20 issues must be related with people’s hunger, employment, education, health, development and  freedom from corruption. These things come out of the analysis of Advaniji blog and Advaniji must be congratulated for having started seeing the truth at this important juncture of life, and for showing the truth to others too.
