Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) Chairman and Managing Director, Rakesh K. Upadhyay, announced the launch of Video on Demand for its mobile subscribers in a month’s time while inaugurating VAS ASIA 2012, 12th International Conference and Exhibition in New Delhi. He added that the mobile phone value-added services have got a huge potential to grow to the extent of Rs. 48,000 crores. These can be effective because the smartphone market is really growing fast and the recent statistics of smartphones in the country are 2.7 million while the prospective smartphone user base can amount to 27 million individuals. The number of mobile phone subscribers in India crossed 950 million which undoubtedly indicates the huge potential for growth of the Video on Demand service that BSNL is launching for its customers.
