Patna, 21 Jan. 17: Bihar Chief Minister call to form world’s longest human chain today in support of liquor ban in the state appears successful, as school children along with their parents seen standing hand-in-hand along the highways across the state. Bihar’s attempted to form the world’s longest human chain started from the Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
It has been said that the chain will kick start the second phase of a campaign in support of prohibition. It is expected that over 3,000 km long chain involving more than two crore people will be formed.
The massive statewide event organised by the Nitish Kumar-led government started at 12:15 PM. It will end at 1 PM. Nearly two crore people are participating in the event, said the government.
Nitish Kumar himself inaugurated the event at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Kumar was accompanied by his ally and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Kumar and Yadav held each other’s hands and stood in a long line of thousands of people. Later Lalu Yadav shared that picture on his facebook wall and appealed people to make the event a grant success.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in his statement said that has remained successful and reflected people’s strong resolve in support of prohibition.
Several ministers and hundreds of leaders of Bihar’s three ruling alliance parties – JD(U), RJD and Congress – are standing in the human chain along with Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
